Academy ISD Board of Trustees
Board of Trustees
-
The Academy ISD Board of Trustees consists of seven members elected to serve, without compensation, for overlapping terms of three years each. Operating within the legal parameters of the state and federal constitutions, statutes, courts, and administrative agencies, the board is charged with the responsibility of providing the finest educational program possible for the students in the district. School trustees make all final decisions regarding school district priorities, policies, personnel, textbooks, expenditures, and growth management. Trustees adopt a budget that is necessary to maintain and operate the schools, levy taxes to support the budget, and submit bond issues to the citizens of the district to finance construction projects.

Why you love being an Academy ISD school board member
“I enjoy all aspects of teaching and education, which is why I chose to work in an academic environment as opposed to private practice. Teaching and mentoring medical students and residents is very rewarding. My wife and I also try to be very active with our kid so when an opportunity arose in 2011 to run for the Academy ISD School Board I took it. It has been a blessing and my pleasure to serve and contribute to the District in any way I can.”

“I have lived in Academy, actually Little River, since 1980. The community and school district has provided many opportunities to me that I am very thankful for. Being on the school board is a way that I can give back to help ensure that other children have the same opportunities and support that I did. It is truly a rewarding experience to see our students’ success at all levels of competition and ages throughout the district.”

Why you love being an Academy ISD school board member
"My wife Dawn and I have been part of this District since 2013 and I am honored to be elected this year to serve AISD as a school board member. We have five children in the District—a child (or two) at each school. I decided to run for school board to have a positive impact on the students and teachers of this District, to be involved in the decisions that impact not only my children but all AISD students, and to help guide the District in a time of growth. I truly consider it a privilege to serve this great community." -
