Student Privacy and Confidentiality

  • Counselors respect student’s right to privacy and will keep student information confidential.  There are a few exceptions to confidentiality.  Exceptions include: 

    • information requested by parent or guardian for minor students
    • student discusses wanting to harm self or others
    • neglect or physical and mental abuse
    • counselor has signed parent permission to consult with another professional  
    •  legal situations in which case the counselor will defer to district administration
